A Few of My Favorite Things

Hello! I hope you all are having a great day! First of all, I am so thankful that yesterday we did not receive any severe weather. Unfortunately, others were not so lucky and my prayers go out to them. Tornado season is the only downfall of living in good ole Arkansas.

As usual, my day started off early at the gym. I met a friend and we got to work completing a very good upper body weight lift and cardio session. One of my goals is to be able to do a pull-up. Each day I am getting closer! It is amazing how much stronger I am getting.

I was ravished by the time I got home. To squelch my hunger, I chowed on 3 hard boiled egg-whites (prepped from earlier this week) and a bowl of organic oatmeal with cinnamon, unsweetened vanilla almond milk and strawberries. It was simply divine!  I LOVE this little bowl of heaven, it's easy/quick to make, very filling and has just enough sweetness to it.

Did you know that oatmeal is a slow releasing carbohydrate? Slow Carbs allow the bodies blood-sugar levels to stay at a stable level. This slow rise is what helps you feel full longer and maintain a healthy weight.

Quick-releasing carbs, as the name suggests, are rapidly broken down into sugar.  This action causes a sharp increase in blood sugar levels. Something we do not want. Some common examples of quick-releasing include most breads, white rice, cereals, white potatoes, soft drinks, and baked goods.   Something we do not want. So, the next time you go to the cabinet and start to reach for that box of sugary cereal, STOP and choose oatmeal instead. While the cabinet is open, you might as well toss out all that unhealthy sugary cereal. :)

I wanted to share a few things I enjoy just about every day:

Remember small changes overtime make a huge difference! Eating healthy is a lifestyle. I promise you once you start it will simply become a habit.  It wont take long before a big red apple will be more appealing than that bag of Doritos. I promise!!

Until tomorrow, I hope you have a blessed night!!
